ACR128U Dual-Interface Smart Card Reader

The ACR128 Contact and Contactless Smart Card Reader is a secure, economically designed dual-interface reader, fully compliant to both ISO 7816 Part 1-3 Class A, B standard for the Contact smart card and to ISO 14443 Part 1-4 Type A, B standard for the Contactless smart card. By combining contact and 13.56 MHz RFID contactless smart card technologies, the ACR128 is a suitable solution for demanding environments.

About ACR128

The ACR128U Dual-Interface Smart Card Reader is a contact and contactless smart card reader compliant with the ISO 7816 Parts 1-3 Class A, B standard for contact cards and with the ISO 14443 Parts 1-4 Type A, B standard for contactless cards.

ACR128U is PC/SC-compliant for contact and contactless interfaces. It makes use of high-speed communication for contactless cards with a maximum speed of 848 kbps. ACR128U also has intelligent support for hybrid and combi cards, and is designed such that it can still detect a contactless card even if it is inserted to the contact card slot.

Furthermore, as different applications require different levels of security and functionality, the ACR128U comes with a built-in SAM card slot for added security.

By combining contact and contactless interfaces in one reader, ACR128U is suitable for environments that favor dual-interface applications. For example, you may use the reader for both settling online payments with contact EMV Level 1 cards and reading the balance of your contactless Mifare membership cards. ACR128U can also be embedded in bigger machines and systems such as vending machines, automatic fare collection systems, and public telephone systems.

  • Intelligent support for hybrid and combi cards
  • Supports multi-block transfer mode
  • Built-in anti-collision feature (at least 1 card is detected when multiple cards are presented)
